Since the age of 19, I have lived a double life. The first, most prominent — as a responsible and hardworking woman. However on the contrary, I was spontaneous and reckless — living for the moment. The responsible me woke up early and worked hard all day at my family-run business here in Vancouver, BC. The wild me booked last minute trips with my girlfriends to dance into the early hours of the morning. On the weekends I was in town, I performed as a professional dancer and modeled, — my most notable jobs for MAXIM and FHM.
I was always with camera in hand, photographing my dancer and model friends. Little did I know at the time my career as a professional boudoir photographer would emerge from those 'wild' days. At that time I was happy with both of the lives I led as the first allowed me to buy my first home at 23 years old, while the second gave me the ability to let loose — making me feel alive. It wasn’t until I had my first child that I set aside the wild me, and not knowing at the time — I lost a piece of myself.
Motherhood became the whole me, and it was my greatest blessing. But as my daughter and son became less dependant on me, I found myself searching for that other part of myself. I reconnected with photography and fell in love all over again, as a new version of the wild me emerged, regaining my sense of freedom. My once double life has now transformed as I've built my boudoir photography business. I have the ability to take care of my responsibilities, plus I have an outlet to embrace my sexuality and feel empowered, and I get to give this very same feeling to the many beautiful women I photograph, everyday.
